Playoffs opened in Class 5A and several league champions were crowned on the final Friday of the 3A and 4A regular season.  Colorado Preps provided coverage with the weekly Scoreboard Show and got a chance to visit with many of the coaches who won conference crowns or advanced in the playoff bracket.  Those interviews are available on-demand below in their entirety and all sessions are presented by NAPA.
More interviews will be available Saturday night as a special playoff edition of the Scoreboard Show is set for 3:30-5:00pm as we run results and visit with winning coaches as the playoffs hit full speed in 2A, 1A, eight man and six man football.

ERIE – Chad Cooper

The Tigers captured the 3A North Valley championship with a late score in a 30-27 win over Fort Morgan.  The Tigers led the game at one point 23-6 then trailed late in the fourth quarter before a kickoff return set up the game winning drive.

MEAD – Jason Klatt

In a very rare battle of two 9-0 teams to close the regular season, the Mavericks used a fourth quarter touchdown to upend Frederick 27-20.  The win gave Mead the 3A North Metro championship and puts them in position for the top overall playoff seed.

SKYLINE – Michael Silva

Winning for the seventh straight week, the Falcons collected the 4A Longs Peak title with a hard fought 20-15 win over Loveland.  The game was a rematch of last year’s title game; both in the conference and in the state finals.

PONDEROSA – Jaron Cohen

Another team that rallied from behind in the second half was Ponderosa as two fourth quarter scores pushed them past Heritage 26-19.  The win capped off a tremendous final two weeks for the Mustangs who again claim the 4A Metro crown.

VISTA PEAK – John Sullivan

In getting a road win over Fruita Monument 35-21, the Bison set many firsts for their program.  They won their first conference crown and earned their first playoff berth.  The Bison also finished the regular season with a 10-0 mark.

ARAPAHOE – Rod Sherman

Avenging an early season loss to Castle View, the Warriors used a strong defensive performance to move past Castle View 17-7 and into the second round of the 5A playoffs.  Next up they meet #2 Ralston Valley.

SMOKY HILL – Tom Thenell

Coming off a perfect 10-0 regular season and a second consecutive Metro 10 title, the Buffs earned their first playoff win since 1991 in rolling past Overland 48-6.  They now advance to the round of 16 to face #6 Columbine

HIGHLANDS RANCH – TJ Rubley

Suiting up just 40 players for a 5A playoff game, the Falcons got off to a slow start but then rolled Doherty 59-7 in a first round game.  Now winners in five of their last six, the Falcons are set for a rematch with Regis.  The Raiders won the first contest 49-14.

BROOMFIELD – Blair Hubbard

The Eagles soared past Longmont on Thursday night to win the 4A Northern division championship.  The win also left them at 10-0 in the season and looking at a very high playoff seed when the brackets are announced on Sunday.

DISCOVERY CANYON – Shawn Mitchell

It was the quite the game on Thursday as Discovery Canyon beat Palmer Ridge to win the 3A Central title.  The Thunder trailed the two-time defending state champions 21-7 but roared back for a wild 56-49 decision.
