Colorado Preps wrapped up the January schedule with the fourth edition of the Basketball Scoreboard Show. We spoke with nine coaches about wins and also recapped a big game inside the Denver Prep League. Interviews in their entirety are available on-demand below and they’re presented by NAPA. ALAMOSA BOYS – Myles Baker
The Moose handed Centauri their first loss of the season and in the process took sole possession of the 3A Intermountain league lead. It was their fifth straight win following a 5-4 start.
SEDGWICK COUNTY BOYS: Stacy Woodhams
Battling the flu bug, the Cougars stayed unbeaten on the season with a hard fought win over Merino. The win also sets up a first place showdown with #2 Yuma on Saturday with the winner taking over the top spot in the 2A/1A Lower Platte.
CHEYENNE WELLS BOYS: Matt Roberts
Following a tough loss to Kit Carson the week before, the Tigers picked up an important High Plains conference win over Cheraw. The come from behind win keeps Cheyenne Wells in line for a first round bye in the district tournament.
PLATTE VALLEY GIRLS: Tonya Schissler
A very young team, the Broncos stayed within a game of first place University in the 3A Patriot by beating Estes Park. The win kept them tied for second with Eaton.
HERITAGE CHRISTIAN GIRLS: Joe Packard
The Eagles stayed perfect on the season and more importantly took a big step to winning the 2A/1A Mile High crown with a very good road win at Denver Christian. Both teams were unbeaten in league play going in.
CRESTED BUTTE BOYS: Brandin Hamilton
The Titans scored a crucial Southern Peaks win over Center on Tuesday and added a non-conference win over Cotopaxi on Friday. The two wins improved their overall record to 10-2 and the total matches the number of wins recorded over the past two years combined.
DEBEQUE BOYS: Jake Higuera
The defending 1A state champions put their 40-game winning streak on the line against 2A #9 Vail Christian on Saturday. Both teams are 4-0 in the Western Slope with a two game edge on all other league members to the winner likely ends up with the championship.
BRIGGDSALE GIRLS: Colin Nicklas
The Falcons host Fleming in a top three Class 1A clash on Saturday. Briggsdale won the first game 65-47 but the Wildcats were missing a key player. We preview the matchup with the Briggsdale coach.
SKYVIEW GIRLS: Chris Kemm
The Wolverines moved very close to a second straight Colorado 8 championship by beating Weld Central, Conifer and Alameda over the past ten days. They also have tough games coming up with Fort Lupton and Riverdale Ridge next week.
NORTHFIELD – GEORGE WASHINGTON BOYS RECAP
Both teams entered the Friday clash unbeaten in league play and tied with Denver East atop the DPL. Duvalier Johnson of Prep Hoops Colorado joined us on the Scoreboard Show to recap the win by the Nighthawks.
