Soroco senior Jace Logan moved into the record books last Friday in the Rams 64-46 win over Plateau Valley. The senior ran for 480 yards and scored a whopping nine touchdowns in leading his team to a fifth straight victory. He ran the ball 34 times and averaged 14.1 yards per carry.
According to the official CHSAA Football record book, the yardage total is the sixth best all-time for a single game. Five players have gone over the 500-yard in a game led by Leonard Jones of Montbello with 584 on October 16th, 1999. Logan’s total is the most for any back that has not reached 500 yards.
The nine rushing touchdowns also moves Logan into a tie for second all-time in a single game tying him with Sam Harris of Colorado D&B (2004) and Daniel Quinn of Sand Creek (2014). Ken Pearson of Hugo holds the all-time with 12 in a 1930 contest. The nine scores also move into a three-way tie for tenth for most total touchdowns in a game. He’s now tied with Logan Vach of Briggsdale (2015) and Fred Turner of Eads (2015). The all-time record is 13 and is held by Harold Klausner of Woodlin with 13 (2005).
Logan has already rushed for 1,408 yards and 28 touchdowns this year. He’s scored at least five touchdowns in four of five games this season. For his career, the senior has amassed 6,496 yards with 92 touchdowns. He’s coming off a junior season where he finished with 3,230 yards and 43 scores.
His junior season is not listed in the CHSAA record but would place him fourth all-time for the most yards in a single season. The record is 3,416 by Myles Smith of Cheyenne Wells in 2003. For his career, Logan is currently 8th all-time in rushing yards and needs less than 200 yards to climb into the top five. His 92 career touchdowns have put him in the top 10 and eight more puts him in the top eight.
