Not a very busy boys’ basketball schedule overall, but we’ll breakdown the most important results from Thursday and tell you the impact on league championship races.

CLASS 5A

Continental:  The standings have changed a bit thanks to Regis and their one point win over Legend.  The loss was the first in league play for the Titans who now fall into a first place tie with ThunderRidge and Chaparral.  ThunderRidge beat Highlands Ranch and Chaparral edged Rock Canyon.

CLASS 4A

Denver Prep:  Northfield earned a crucial win over Lincoln 51-42 as it kept them tied with Denver East in first place.  Both clubs are unbeaten and won’t meet until the final week of the regular season.  The Nighthawks also likely wrapped up a top two finish as they now have wins over Lincoln, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
Northern:  A tough loss to Centaurus as they came up short to Thompson Valley.  The Warriors are now tied for third with Niwot and both sit one game back of Silver Creek in the race for second.  Longmont (8-1) is alone in first.
South Central:  Pueblo East kept the lead in the standings with a win over Pueblo Central.  The Eagles bumped to 5-0 in conference while Pueblo Central dropped to third at 3-2.  Pueblo West is now alone in second (4-1) thanks to their win over Pueblo Centennial.

CLASS 3A

Metro:  Faith Christian moved very close to locking down second place with a 52-35 win over Jefferson Academy.  Both teams entered the game with one league loss and one back of first place Lutheran.  Faith Christian is now alone in second while JA slides into a four-team mix with Manual, Machebeuf and Colorado Academy for third place.

CLASS 2A

San Juan:  Mancos stayed one game back of league leading Ignacio by beating Telluride 73-38.  The Bluejays lost the first game to Ignacio and that result separates the two atop the league standings.

CLASS 1A

High Plains:  Cheyenne Wells stayed in line for a second-place finish as they moved past McClave 45-29.  The Tigers opened the game one game back of Kit Carson and tied with Cheraw in second place.  They’ve lost to Kit Carson but own the tiebreaker over Cheraw since they won the head-to-head matchup.  Cheraw and Kit Carson meet on Friday.
5280:  Denver Waldorf upset #4 Flatirons Academy to take the lead in the conference.  Both teams were 4-0 in conference play going in.  Flatirons falls into a second place tie with Mile High Academy and Denver Jewish Day.
