Regular season winds down this weekend for Classes 5A, 2A, 1A and eight man and there’s plenty to decide in each conference. Many top 10 matchups will determine league champions as those winners earn automatic playoff berths.
In Class 5A, #1 Cherry Creek meets #7 Grandview for the Metro East championship while #2 Ralston Valley and #5 Pomona collide for the Metro West crown. The Metro South title goes to the winner of #3 Valor Christian and Highlands Ranch.
In Class 2A, #2 Sterling and #5 Faith Christian are favored but each needs a win over a second place team to gain respective league championships. Sterling meets Weld Central while Faith Christian tangles with D’Evelyn.
In Class 1A, the number one seed could go to the winner between #2 Holyoke and #3 Limon. The team that ends on top lands the North Central title. #5 Colorado Springs Christian and #7 Florence square off for the Tri Peaks crown and #6 Meeker looks for a second win over #8 Hotchkiss to claim the Western Slope championship. #1 Strasburg and #4 Centauri also need wins to grab their league crowns outright.
In 8man, Sedgwick County is the number one team and the Cougars can land a fifth straight Plains championship by beating Merino. The Rams upset the Cougars at the end of last season. The Mountain also enters the final week with many scenarios possible. #3 Sanford is alone in first and grabs the crown by beating Sargent. If the Farmers win, they can win the top trophy if Dove Creek also beats Mancos. If Sargent and Mancos both win, those two end in a first place tie with Sanford.
