It’s another huge week for Top 10 football teams as clubs continue to work to league championships and playoff invitations.
The 5A schedule is again highlighted by games inside the Metro East and West. #1 Cherry Creek looks to stay atop the Metro East standings with a win over #9 Cherokee Trail while #7 Pomona looks to hand #4 Columbine a second straight loss in the Metro West.
In the 4A division, #5 Chatfield meets #7 Dakota Ridge with the winner taking over the Jeffco lead. #6 Pueblo West also battles Air Academy with both teams unbeaten in conference play.
#3 Pueblo South and #7 Durango top the 3A slate as they meet for the South Central lead. And #8 Green Mountain faces Evergreen in a key game inside the Mt. Metro.
Class 2A gets good matchups on the Western Slope between #1 Rifle and #7 Basalt and in the Tri Peaks between #8 Classical Academy at La Junta. Rifle clinches the league title while TCA looks for their first ever win over the Tigers.
For Class 1A, #3 Limon heads to #10 Wray and a win for the Badgers likely sets up a huge showdown with #2 Holyoke in the final week. #4 Florence meets #6 Centauri in a very important non-league test as both teams look to improve their RPI.
In eight man, #1 Sedgwick County can stay alone atop the Plains by beating #9 Caliche and #6 Pikes Peak Christian can clinch the South title with a win over Swink. #3 Sanford is alone in first in the Southern Peaks but Dove Creek is one of three teams just one game back. The Bulldogs are coming off a tough loss to Sargent.
The most important game in six man pits #3 Stratton/Liberty against #5 Flagler/Hi Plains. Both are strong state championship contenders but up first, the winner gets the East Central crown. #7 North Park and #10 Briggsdale also clash for third in the North.
