Not much time to shake off the Christmas rust for top girls’ basketball teams across the state as many are involved in important games as the schedule resumes. Up to four games on the schedule could heavily factor into crowning league champions later in the season.
Headlining the list is the 3A Tri Peaks battle between Lamar and St Mary’s on Friday as the defending state champion Savages host the unbeaten Pirates. Those two are favored to challenge for the league crown along with unbeaten Colorado Springs Christian. The Lions take part in the Rampart Tournament which includes an unbeaten battle with 4A #1 Pueblo West later this week.
Also on the schedule is a 5A Jeffco clash between Ralston Valley and Lakewood on Thursday and in the smaller classifications, North Park and Vail Christian are both 6-0 as they battle in the Western Slope opener for both teams. Another game that could impact a league title chase is the Friday matchup between Haxtun and Holyoke. Those two hope to challenge Yuma and Wray for the 2A Lower Platte title.
Also of note are games between Kim/Branson-Antonito, Sangre De Cristo-Rocky Ford and Highlands Ranch-Denver East. The complete list of top games for all five classes is below.
