In looking the Saturday schedule, we’ve found six football games of note across the state.  We make the selections based on overall record and importance to league races.  Colorado Preps will track results of these games and all others throughout the day.

  • 5A: Highlands Ranch at Lakewood
  • 4A: Widefield at Mesa Ridge
  • 2A: Resurrection Christian at Academy
  • 8MAN: Norwood at Mancos
  • 8MAN: Pikes Peak Christian at Rocky Mountain Lutheran
  • 6MAN: Genoa Hugo at Edison

The winner between Highlands Ranch and Lakewood becomes the top challenger to Valor Christian for the 5A Lincoln conference championship.  Widefield and Mesa Ridge are long-time rivals in the Colorado Springs region and both need a win to open a rugged 4A Southern league schedule that also includes Pine Creek and Pueblo West.
Resurrection Christian and Academy square off with the winner stepping up to challenge Eaton for the 2A Patriot West championship.  Norwood has already lost to Sargent so another setback drops the Mavericks out of the 8man Southwestern chase.  Mancos is unbeaten in league action.  Pikes Peak Christian and Rocky Mountain are both unbeaten in the Central division.  That winner could end up as the league champion.
In the six man division, Genoa Hugo can basically clinch the Central crown with a win on the road this afternoon.  They’ve already beaten Hanover this season.
