Class 5A girls soccer teams with unblemished records narrowed from three to two after No. 1 Fossil Ridge’s nine-game winning streak ended in a draw against Northfield on Monday.

Still standing: No. 2 Legacy and No. 11 Horizon, both 10-0. They’ll meet Thursday in a Granite Peaks League showdown.

Across the state, the No. 1 teams in each classification — 5A Fossil Ridge, 4A Rampart, 3A Kent Denver and 2A Crested Butte — remain unchanged from last week.

Fossil Ridge (9-0-1), the 5A leader, beat No. 4 Mountain Vista 1-0 on Saturday before tying No. 13 Northfield two days later.

In rivalry action, the 4A Rams (9-1) got a hat trick from freshman Aubrie Smith in an 8-0 win over 5A No. 39 Doherty. Meanwhile, Kent Denver (9-2) edged No. 9 Colorado Academy 1-0 behind Lexi Morgan’s 10th goal of the season.

At the top of 2A, Crested Butte (6-1-2) — idle since a 7-0 win over 3A No. 44 Bayfield on April 9 — travels to No. 12 Ridgway on Tuesday.

Below are the top games to follow this week.

Class 5A

No. 2 Legacy at No. 11 Horizon, Thursday at 6 p.m.

The Lightning and Hawks are both 10-0.

Legacy has allowed just one goal since March 10, outscoring opponents 28-1 in that span.

Horizon is averaging 5.1 goals per game this spring, led by sophomore Mia Kresnik (11 goals) and freshman Kensington Scott (10).

Both teams could see their perfect records tested before Thursday as Legacy hosts No. 20 Fairview on Tuesday, while Horizon visits No. 9 Broomfield.

Class 4A

No. 3 Palmer Ridge at No. 4 Lutheran, Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

A top-five matchup featuring two teams looking to regain momentum.

The Bears (9-1-1) opened 9-0 but are 1-1-1 since April 9, which includes their 1-1 draw against No. 5 Cheyenne Mountain last Thursday.

The Lions (8-0-2) began 8-0 this spring and climbed to No. 2 in the classification before drawing with No. 6 Air Academy and No. 18 Golden last week.

Class 3A

No. 7 Holy Family at 4A No. 17 Niwot, Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Holy Family (6-2-1) is tough to gauge within 3A, as the Tigers compete in the 4A/3A Granite Peaks League as its only 3A member.

This spring, they hold quality wins over 3A No. 4 Jefferson Academy and No. 15 Stargate School, but have lost by multiple goals to 4A No. 5 Cheyenne Mountain and No. 19 Mead.

Class 2A

No. 7 Denver Christian at No. 5 Forge Christian, Thursday at 6 p.m.

Forge Christian (6-2-1) tied 3A No. 12 Peak to Peak and beat 2A no. 23 Liberty Common last week. The Fury’s only losses this season are to 3A No. 1 Kent Denver and No. 9 Colorado Academy.

Denver Christian has a similar résumé, with losses to Kent Denver, No. 4 Jefferson Academy and Colorado Academy, plus a draw against Peak to Peak.

Forge Christian reached the semifinals last season, while Denver Christian advanced to the quarterfinals.
