The focus on the volleyball courts this week is again centered on league matches as clubs in all five classes took for important wins on their way to a conference championships. Most conference remain up for grabs so we’ve gone through and selected mostly conference battles for the top matches of the week.

The list is again a long one and we will provide a preview each day of the week to indicate what results from these matches will do conference races.

Some of the best matchups include likely league championships in the 5A Centennial and Continental between Cherry Creek-Grandview and Chaparral-Highlands Ranch.  All four enter the match without a league loss and the winner probably grabs the championship at years end.

In Class 1A, there are at least two top 10 battles between Briggsdale-Wiley and Merino-Haxtun.  Briggsdale and Wiley collide at Genoa Hugo High School while the outcome between Merino-Haxtun weighs heavily on the Lower Platte league championship.

In Class 2A, Meeker and West Grand face off late in the week with the winner taking over sole possession of first place in the Western Slope.  3A features a huge week for Resurrection Christian meets both Lutheran (Tuesday) and Liberty Common (Thursday).  University and Eaton also square off this week.

In Class 4A, the league title in the Longs Peak should go to Tuesday’s winner between Frederick and Niwot.  Both are 6-0 in conference and share the lead.  Palisade can also move very close to the Western SLope title by beating Eagle Valley on Friday.  The Bulldogs won the first meeting 3-1.  Also, Palmer Ridge and Discovery Canyon collide to help determine the eventual champion of the Pikes Peak division.
