Focus for the Top 10 volleyball schedule on Friday lays mainly in Class 1A with a couple of other important matches elsewhere. One of those “other matches” is found in Class 5A where #1 Cherokee Trail faces #8 Grandview as the Cougars can wrap up the Centennial championship with a win. They stand alone in first place and a win this evening gives them a one game lead with one to play plus the tiebreaker over all second place clubs.
Two other top 10 clashes can be found in the smaller school ranks including Dove Creek against Telluride. Both teams are ranked second in their respective class but they also share second place in the San Juan conference. Both teams have just one league loss to first place Dolores so the winner takes over sole possession of second. Also in 1A is a nice battle between #4 Briggsdale and #10 Otis. Both are strong challengers to the state championship so this could serve as a preview to a state tournament contest. #5 Fleming also meets 2A defending state champion Yuma.
