Blaine Peebles returned three punts for a touchdown, brought back an interception for another score and secured a fifth touchdown on the ground during North Fork’s 54-6 victory over Roaring Fork.

Drayden Taylor, Ace Connelly and Lane Allen added addition scores on the ground for the Miners.

Elsewhere in Class 1A, Meeker’s Kelton Turner continued his rushing dominance with another huge day, tallying 131 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries during the Cowboys’ 28-12 win over Gunnison. Turner leads 1A with 1,132 yards and 17 touchdowns in seven games.

Grand Valley picked up a 37-6 win over Cedaredge where Steven Hicks and Emilio Garcia each scored twice on the ground. Hicks added another touchdown through the air.

Moffat County won its seventh straight game with a 62-35 victory against Aspen. Running back Evan Atkin ran for four scores and threw for another as he and Ethan Hafey both crossed the 100-yard mark for rushing. Quarterback Ryan Peck added two more touchdowns on 4-for-6 passing.

Meanwhile, Delta got four touchdowns from freshman quarterback Ty Reed in a 42-14 win over Basalt. He completed 5 of 7 passing attempts for 163 yards and two touchdowns, and accounted for two rushing touchdowns on 38 yards.

Rifle turned in a 28-7 victory over rival Coal Ridge thanks to four rushing touchdowns from senior quarterback Trey Caldwell.

Steamboat Springs blocked an extra-point attempt in the final few minutes to secure a 28-27 win over Glenwood Springs and clinch its first winning season since 2009. The 6-1 Sailors were led by senior quarterback Jake Hamric, who had 25-for-38 passing with 379 yards and three touchdowns.

Phallen Salvati made a couple late tackles for Palisade and rushed 121 yards and touchdown during the Bulldogs’ 29-26 win over Summit.

Battle Mountain eked out a 21-20 win over Eagle Valley, with a flea-flicker in the final minutes setting up the game-winning touchdown.

Montrose scored on almost every possession during a 42-28 win over Vista Ridge. The top-ranked Indians rolled with their rushing attack against a defense that had previously allowed 11.5 points per game this season.

Fruita Monument outlasted No. 10 Pueblo West with a 26-21 win, led by running back Kaison Stegelmeier. The junior ran for 148 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries.

Grand Junction Central’s Cash Walker pulled in a 24-yard pass from Devin Hickey with 41 seconds remaining to lift the Warriors to a 25-20 victory over Greeley Central.

Vista PEAK Prep upended Grand Junction 39-7.

Keihlin Myers threw for two touchdowns while Zane Varner rushed for 125 yards during Rangely’s 46-0 win over Soroco.

Vail Christian also earned a 46-0 victory, taking down Gilpin County to remain undefeated at 7-0.

Wyatt Howell scored five times on the ground during West Grand’s 46-12 win over Custer County.

Hayden defeated Plateau Valley 48-24.

VOLLEYBALL 

Meeker remained undefeated and has won 30 consecutive sets after sweeps Olathe, North Park and Grand Valley. Emma Luce had 70 kills across the three matches.

West Grand turned in a 3-1 win over Rangely. Maddie Probst cranked out 14 kills for the Mustangs while Aspen Low had 15 blocks for the Panthers.

Vail Christian notched a 3-1 win over Hayden via a narrow 26-24 victory in the fourth set.

Plateau Valley also topped Hayden, completing the sweep to snap a two-game losing streak.

Delta swept Basalt to avenge its only league loss last season and maintain the top spot in the 3A Western Slope League.

Raelee McCurdy and Ellie Ames finished with nine kills apiece, while Ames and Erika Kuta each had four aces.

North Fork swept Olathe and Moffat County, then defeated Grand Valley 3-1 in a busy week.

Cedaredge defeated Roaring Fork 3-1.

Montrose swept Coal Ridge behind a huge day from Madisen Matoush. The senior rained down 20 kills and two aces, while the Indians had 10 blocks as a team.

Steamboat Springs won a series of close sets to top Glenwood Springs 3-1. Tya Drennan had a match-high 18 kills and three blocks, while Lauren Fullerton had 31 digs.

Battle Mountain one twice at a tournament, picking up wins over Vail Mountain and Brush. The victories gave the Huskies some momentum after a 1-5 stretch.

Summit also defeated Brush at the same tournament to earn its first win of the season.

Fruita Monument picked up a 3-1 win over Palisade, where senior BayLea Sparks erupted for 24 kills for the Wildcats. Ella Yanowich led the Bulldogs with 14 kills.

Grand Junction Central’s Maylayna Thomas turned in eight aces during the Warriors’ 3-2 win over Grand Junction.

SOFTBALL 

Meeker continued its impressive late-season run with a 15-2 win over Faith Christian to reach the state tournament. Brea Garcia doubled and drove in three runs, while Kastyn Dembowski finished 2 for 2 with two RBI. Hayley Knowles struck out nine during a complete game in the circle. She allowed only four hits and surrendered just one walk.

The Cowboys lost their first six games of the season before going 12-5 the rest of the way.

Grand Junction Central secured its spot in the state tournament for the third time in four years by winning a decisive game against Arapahoe 9-6. The Warriors defeated Loveland 14-0, fell to Lakewood 9-2, then won the qualifying game against Arapahoe.

The pivotal game was powered by a pair of two-RBI performances from Aspen Satterfield and Emma Diaz.

BOYS SOCCER

Aspen defeated Roaring Fork 3-2 to shake up the 4A/3A Western Slope League standings. The Rams’ first loss of the season brings them even with Coal Ridge, although Roaring Fork owns the tiebreaker. Brody Taylor connected on a free kick early in the second half to earn the win.

It took two overtimes, but Vail Mountain edged Steamboat Springs 2-1. Peter Hughes and Nick Kirwood scored the goals, while Nolan Kim assisted on both.

Battle Mountain won its third straight, topping Glenwood Springs 5-1. Samuel Koontz scored twice, while Joseph Fernandez, Bryant Ramirez and Alexis Dozal each found the net once.

Summit scored once in each half during a 2-0 win over Rifle, with Fabian Cuevas and Owen Gallo putting home the deciding goals.

Palisade piled in goals during a 6-0 win over Palisade.  

Blake Sturgeon, Luiz Aguirre and Gerardo Hernandez each scored a goal in the Grand Junction soccer team’s 3-2 win over Fruita Monument.
