Basketball practice has begun across the state and Colorado Preps will provide in-depth coverage of teams leading up to the start of the season later this month.  Our coverage involves a recap of the top players returning for each team in each conference.  Our capsules will list the top three returnees in several categories for all clubs and our list is based on numbers posted to MaxPreps from last year.  Our list does not include those players who have transferred or moved to different schools since last season.
Our first conference is the Black Forest for Class 1A Girls.  Elbert is the defending champion as the Bulldogs went through league play without a loss (7-0) and ended the season as the only team in the conference with a winning record.  The Bulldogs also beat North Park in the regional tournament to reach the state tournament before falling to Kit Carson and DeBeque there.  Kiowa finished second at 6-2 with Edison placing third at 5-4.
