We continue getting closer to the start of the 2019-20 girls basketball season and Colorado Preps continues to provide previews of each team in each conference.  Our preview today centers on the Lower Platte which includes team from both Class 1A and 2A.
Three league members ended last season with trips to the state tournament including Yuma which grabbed the 2A championship.  The Indians blew past Heritage Christian (54-19) in the opening round and then downed Del Norte (51-35) in the state semifinals.  They earned the title with a 41-25 win over Swink in the finals.
Joining Yuma at the 2A tournament was Wray.  The Eagles were upset by eventual finalist Swink in the quarterfinals but recovered to win their next two and claim the consolation championship.  Haxtun was a Class 1A finalist but came up short to three-time champion Kit Carson (63-33) in the championship game.  The Bulldogs made the finals with wins over South Baca (51-44) and Fleming (48-32).  Holyoke almost became a fourth team to qualify for state but they fell at Meeker (46-43) in the regional finals.
We list the top three returnees for each club in several categories.  Numbers are based on stats posted to MaxPreps during the 2018-19 season.
