It’s an exciting final week for 2A girls’ basketball as three top 10 matchups will determine the remaining league titles.  Simla and Colorado Springs School meet in the Black Forest, Del Norte and Sanford renew their rivalry in the Southern Peaks and unbeatens Rye and Rocky Ford finally meet in the Santa Fe.

BLACK FOREST
Simla and Colorado Springs School enter the final week without and they battle for the top two positions on Saturday.  The Cubs host the league championship game and will look to bounce back from the tough loss to Rye on Saturday.  The Kodiaks are 16-1 overall and have not lost since dropping the season opener to Ignacio (42-26).  Peyton will be third if they beat both Miami Yoder on Friday and Calhan on Saturday.  They’re favored in both.
SANTA FE
Rye (18-0) has captured the Western division championship and Rocky Ford (18-0) the Eastern side so their meeting on Tuesday will decide the overall champion.  Regardless of outcome, the two clubs have already earned the top two seeds in the district tournament which starts later in the week.  RPI wise, Rocky Ford is #5 with Rye #8.  Swink and Hoehne will earn the next two highest seeds in the district bracket as the Lions finished second in the East and Hoehne in the West.
SOUTHERN PEAKS
As expected the regular season finale between Del Norte and Sanford should determine the top two spots in the conference.  Sanford meets Sargent on Friday and a win by the Indians sets up a winner-take-all battle for the crown and the top district seed.  If Sargent pulls the upset, then Sanford needs a win on Saturday to create a three-way tie for the top spot.  If Sargent falls to Sanford, the Farmers will remain the third seed in the district tournament.
LOWER PLATTE
The seeds are set for the district tournament as Holyoke will earn the top seed and Yuma won the three-way tiebreaker with Sedgwick County and Wray for second.  The Indians nabbed the spot through point differential in the three games between the three clubs.  Sedgwick County then gets the third spot based on their head to head win over Wray.  Wiggins will be fifth and Akron sixth.
MILE HIGH
Heritage Christian (10-0) clinches the championship by beating either Nederland on Tuesday or Front Range Christian on Friday.  They also have an interesting game with 4A George Washington on Thursday.  Dawson and Denver Christian (8-1) play for second and third on Tuesday.  1A Longmont Christian (7-3) is in good position for fourth with Gilpin County and Union Colony (both 6-4) tied for fifth.  Gilpin County won the head-to-head battle with Union Colony so they have the edge in the tiebreaker.  They get the spot by beating Clear Creek on Tuesday and Nederland on Thursday regardless of what else happens.  Also note for the district tournament that Denver Christian and Longmont Christian move to other brackets leaving Heritage Christian, Dawson, Gilpin County and Union Colony Prep as the top four seeds in District 7.
SAN JUAN
Ignacio (7-0) is the league champion as they have a win and one game advantage on second place 1A Dove Creek (6-1).  The next 2A team in the standings is Telluride and the Miners have four league losses.  Telluride had a chance to clinch the #2 seed in districts by beating Dolores last Saturday but that result is unknown at this time.  If the Bears lost that game, then their matchup with Ridgway this Saturday will determine the third and fourth seed.
UNION PACIFIC
Limon (6-0) is the league champion as they beat Genoa Hugo (5-1) in an early season league contest.  Burlington gets to third by beating Deer Trail on Thursday.  That would leave Byers in fourth overall.  Limon is the number one team in Class 2A RPI so they will also be the top seed for the district tournament.
WESTERN SLOPE
Meeker secured the league title and top district seed with their win at Hotchkiss last Friday.  They will try to finish off a perfect 11-0 run through the league schedule against Hayden on Friday.  Hayden (7-3) is third but cannot clinch Hotchkiss (8-2) since they lost to the Bulldogs earlier in league action.  Should Hayden fall to Meeker, then they slide into a three-way tie with DeBeque and Soroco for third provided the Dragons beat Rangely and the Rams top Vail Christian.  District wise, the third seed would then go to Soroco as the Rams beat Hayden in their head-to-head matchup.  DeBeque does not factor in since they move into Class 1A for the playoffs.
