It’s hard to have a real feel of the Class 5A boys soccer landscape as the classification still has eight unbeaten teams heading into the final month of the regular season.
Defending champ Cherry Creek is No. 1. And for good reason. The Bruins have the lone unblemished record in 5A at 9-0. Cooper Arledge scored his class-leading 12th goal of the season in a 4-2 win over No. 10 Smoky Hill on Thursday.
Behind them are seven more unbeatens: No. 2 Northfield, No. 3 Ralston Valley, No. 4 Regis Jesuit, No. 5 Denver East, No. 6 Legacy, No. 8 Grand Junction and No. 24 Westminster.
Thursday, Ethan Orchard scored his ninth goal of the year in No. 3 Ralston Valley’s 3-0 win over Arvada West, moving the Mustangs to 9-0-1.
Friday, Isaias Bonilla scored as No. 2 Northfield (7-0-1) edged No. 12 Vista PEAK Prep 1-0.
Saturday, Cherry Creek won its ninth straight game to open its title defense, beating No. 10 Pine Creek 3-0.
And on Monday, Noah Grobaski recorded his seventh shutout for the sixth-seeded Lightning (7-0-1), making five saves in a 2-0 win over then-4A No. 1 Silver Creek.
Here’s what the next week looks like for some of the other unbeatens around the state:
Class 5A
Denver East at Northfield; Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Northfield will put its three-game shutout streak up against Denver East (6-0-2), which is coming off a three-goal win over 5A 2024 runner-up Broomfield.
Northfield’s Bonilla got his first goal of the season in Friday’s win after having 12 in 2024, including one against Denver East.
The Angels, meanwhile, got four goals from four different players in Thursday’s win over Broomfield. Jacob Danzer was one of them, scoring his third of the season.
Class 4A
Northridge at Greeley Central; Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Vista Ridge at Pueblo West; Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The 4A classification has just two unbeaten teams remaining — No. 5 Greeley Central (7-0-1) and No. 9 Pueblo West (5-0-1).
It did have three, but No. 3 Silver Creek (5-1) gave up its first goals of the season in its first loss of the season, 2-0 to 5A No. 6 Legacy on Monday.
GC got a hat trick from Allyson Izaguirre Almendarez in a 7-2 win over Frederick last Tuesday, then followed it up by playing to a scoreless draw against Severance on Thursday.
PW got a hat trick from Ethan Wagner in a 6-0 win over crosstown rival Pueblo Centennial on Sept. 22 before tying Pueblo Central 1-1 on Wednesday.
Class 3A
Jefferson Academy at Peak to Peak; Thursday at 6 p.m.
The seventh-ranked Pumas (3-0-4) have played to a draw in each of their last three games and remain as one of the four unbeatens left in the classification.
No. 6 Jefferson Academy (5-2-1) beat the Pumas in last year’s semifinals, then lost to Holy Family in the finals.
Class 2A
Aurora West College Prep Academy at Bruce Randolph; Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
The lone unbeaten 2A team is Bruce Randolph (5-0-1), a program that snapped a streak of four losing seasons with an 8-5-3 finish in 2024.
The top-ranked Grizzlies haven’t played since Sept. 18, when they tied 3A No. 11 KIPP Denver Collegiate 1-1.
This fall they’ve been led by senior defender Alejandro Rodriguez, who has 11 goals in six games. His 1.833 goals per game is tops in 2025 among 2A players who’ve scored at least 10 times.
