CLASS 1A

  • District 2:  Cheyenne Wells scores the win over Cheraw 49-37 and will now challenge top seeded Granada in the semifinals on Thursday.  All tournament games are at the Lamar Community Building.
  • District 3:  Springfield gets the win over Walsh 63-38 to finalize the semifinal pairings.  Those games are set for Thursday at Las Animas high school.  Kim/Branson is the top seed and will meet La Veta at 6:00pm and preceding that game is a battle between Springfield and Primero.  They are seeded second and third.
  • District 6:  Sierra Grande advances to the semifinals without stepping on the court.  Their opponent Lake City has forfeited the contest so the Panthers are through to the next round on Friday.  Creede finished second to Sierra Grande in the regular season and the Miners moved into the semifinals with their 60-36 win over Antonito.
  • District 7:  ECA is the top seed and showed why in a 69-19 win over Cripple Creek.  The Eagles won’t know their semifinal opponent until Thursday as the game between Hanover and Elbert has been pushed back to then.  Simla and Kiowa were also scheduled to play tonight but the game has been delayed to Wednesday.  Weather and road conditions the culprit for both games.

 

CLASS 2A

  • District 1:  Sanford is the top seed and had no trouble in getting past Trinidad 64-29 in the quarterfinals.  Trinidad was coming off a nice win at South Park the night before.  Del Norte is the opponent for Sanford as the Tigers took down Custer County.  Second seeded Crested Butte has joined the Indians in the semifinals by beating Center 59-42.  The Titans meet surprising Lake County who stunned #3 Monte Vista on the road 52-47.
  • District 2:  Only one surprise in the quarterfinals on Tuesday as #6 Sedgwick County upset #3 Wiggins 43-35.  That win moves the Cougars into a semifinal showdown with defending state champion Wray.  The Eagles downed Burlington by 44 points.  Yuma earned a first round bye and will tangle with #4 Holyoke as the Dragons beat Akron 65-45 this evening.
  • District 3:  Weather has caused a change in scheduling as tonight’s game between Dolores and Telluride has been pushed back to Wednesday at 5:00pm.  Winner gets top seeded Mancos in the Friday semifinals.  There is also an upset in the quarterfinals as #6 Olathe stunned #3 Cedaredge 61-57.  The Pirates are in the semifinals against the winner of Ignacio/Ridgway but won’t know their opponent for two days as that game has been postponed to Thursday night at 5:00pm.
  • District 4:  Defending state runner-up Limon starts of the 2022 postseason in a big way as they down Platte Canyon 69-34.  The Badgers are now in the semifinals on Thursday at Vista Peak HS and will face either Lotus School or Front Range Christian.  Denver Christian is the tourney’s top seed and they also ran past a quarterfinal opponent; beating Clear Creek 70-26.  DC meets Byers who downed Front Range Christian 62-38.
  • District 5:  Vail Christian was effective on the offensive end as they put 82 points in a big win over Rangely.  The Saints advance to the semifinals on Friday against top seeded Meeker who earned a first round bye as league champions.  The other semifinal features #2 Vail Mountain vs #3 Plateau Valley as both were easy winners on Tuesday.
  • District 7:  Top four seeds roll into the semifinals on Friday as Heritage Christian, Dawson, Union Colony Prep and Lyons all earned wins by at least 18 points.  Heritage Christian plays Dawson and Lyons faces Union Colony Prep in the next round.  Those pairings are at Highland high school.

 

CLASS 3A

  • Frontier:  The top four seeds are through to the semifinals and the pairings are now set for Thursday.  At 6:00pm, #2 Academy faces #3 DSST-Montview and then at 7:30pm, #1 Middle Park is challenged by #4 Pinnacle.
  • Metro:  Manual with a mild upset in the quarterfinals.  They’re seeded fifth and edged #4 Prospect Ridge 54-49.  The Thunderbolts will likely face top seeded Colorado Academy in the semifinals on Thursday.  The Mustangs are heavily favored against Machebeuf tonight and won the league title by two games in the loss column.  Faith Christian is also in the round of four after beating Stargate 40-34.
  • Colorado/Confluence:  No upsets through either the first round on Monday or the quarterfinals on Tuesday as Englewood, DSST Green Valley Ranch, Eagle Ridge Academy and Fort Lupton have reached the semifinals.  Those games are set for Thursday at Fort Lupton high school.  The Devils host top seeded Englewood while DSST Green Valley Ranch and Eagle Ridge Academy collide in the other.
  • Intermountain:  Bayfield keeps their season alive with a hard fought 60-54 win over Montezuma Cortez.  The win came in the pigtail game inside the bracket and the Wolverines now meet top seeded Centauri in the semifinals on Thursday.
  • West Slope:  Coal Ridge earned a mild upset of Gunnison as the 5th seeded Titans downed the Cowboys 51-48.  The reward is a semifinal date with regular season champion Aspen.  The Skiers are now 20-0 after beating Grand Valley 69-35.  Delta is the two seed and has advanced with a 72-44 win over Roaring Fork.  The Panthers pair up with Moffat County in the semifinals as the Bulldogs held off Basalt 59-50.
