Boys Top 10

It’s a very good Saturday Top 10 schedule in boys basketball including a possible league championship game inside the 2A Santa Fe.  That’s where #4 Fowler entertains #7 Holly.  The teams finished 1-2 last year and met in the third place game at the state tournament as well.  Holly won both the league contest with Fowler taking home the hardware from the state tournament.

Another great pairing can be found in Class 3A where #3 Sterling is on the road to #7 Manual.  These two teams have combined to win two of the last three state titles in the class.  Sterling won in 2017 with the Thunderbolts in the role as defending champions this year.

Two matchups of note in Class 1A find #2 Evangelical Christian at home against #8 Flatirons Academy and #7 Merino at home against #10 Peetz.  For ECA, this game may represent their most difficult challenge of the regular season as they’re expected to roll through the Black Forest chase.  Merino and Peetz both look to bounce back from difficult losses on Friday; the Rams in overtime to Caliche and the Bulldogs at home to Briggsdale.

Post-season bracketing could also be on the line as #3 Limon (2A) meets #9 Denver Christian today.  Both teams were easy winners on Friday.  #5 Ignacio (2A) also looks to move past Montezuma Cortez on day two of the Southwest Classic.

In the big school ranks, Class 4A is very busy with eight ranked teams in action including top ranked Cheyenne Mountain.  The Indians could get challenged at home against Vista Ridge.  #9 Lincoln also has a tough trip to Vista Peak.  In 5A, the best matchup could be #3 Denver East against Chaparral.
