Boys basketball fans across the state are treated to a tremendous schedule on Saturday. Much of the focus will be on Classes 2A and 3A where seven games are scheduled overall with five featuring top 10 matchups.
In class 2A, #1 Yuma is home to #6 Holyoke in a non-league matchup of Lower Platte teams. The conference date is set for February. #2 Limon also stays home to welcome in 5th ranked Denver Christian as those two schools have a long post-season history. And #7 Mancos opens the second half on the road to #5 Sanford as the Indians are coming off a tough loss to 3A Pagosa Springs in their first game of 2022 last night.
In Class 3A, #2 Sterling and #8 Manual continue their great rivalry. They’ve played seven times over the past eight years with Sterling taking six. #5 Kent Denver also looks to rebound from their first loss of the season to Academy on Tuesday night as they head to unbeaten and 6th ranked Eaton.
The big school ranks aren’t left out either as #3 Chaparral and #4 Denver East collide in a very good contest. The Wolverines have momentum off a quality win over 4A #1 Lewis Palmer earlier this week. The Rangers, now 10-1, open up the rugged Pikes Peak league schedule against #8 Discovery Canyon today as well.
In Class 1A, #4 Haxtun and #9 Prairie get together in New Raymer. The Bulldogs look to quickly bounce back from a 40-point loss to Yuma last night while Prairie is on the court for the first time in 2022 as their scheduled game with Mile High Academy earlier this week was postponed.
