Senior Cooper Arledge continued his torrid goal streak as his Cherry Creek soccer team made it a full calendar year since its last loss with a 3-1 win over Boulder on Thursday.
The Panthers are still the last team to beat the Bruins — they beat Cherry Creek 2-0 on Sept. 12, 2024.
Four days after that defeat, the Bruins tied Lakewood. And since then, they have won 18 straight games, including last year’s Class 5A championship over Broomfield.
They’re now 6-0 in 2025 and Arledge has scored in each one.
In the win over Boulder last week, the senior tallied his class-leading 11th goal of the season. Only 2A Denver Jewish Day’s Ronen Trujillo (14 goals) and 4A Battle Mountain’s Jakob Methvin (12) have more in Colorado.
On Wednesday, Arledge will look to add on as the Bruins host one-loss Lakewood at the Stutler Bowl.
Cherry Creek came into the week as one of three remaining teams in 5A without a blemish on its record.
Grand Junction is CHSAA’s current No. 1 team. The Tigers haven’t allowed a goal this season, improving to 6-0 with a 4-0 win over Durango on Saturday.
Westminster is the other. The Wolves haven’t had double-digit wins in a season since 2018 and they’re already halfway there in 2025, moving to 5-0 after beating Pomona on Thursday.
Below let’s take a look at a few other upcoming matchups that feature at least one team with a perfect record still intact.
Class 4A/5A
Mullen at Cherry Creek; Friday at 4:30 p.m.
The 4A No. 1 Mustangs have won their first five games of the season and are outscoring teams 17-1.
Junior Liam Sapuppo has scored a goal in every game for them, giving him five on the year.
If Cherry Creek beats Lakewood on Wednesday, 5A’s defending champ will be 7-0 on the season.
The Mustangs have lost to the Bruins in each of the last three seasons, including 5-4 in 2024.
Class 3A/2A
The Academy at Denver Christian; Thursday at 7 p.m.
3A No. 7 The Academy is 5-0 after beating Kent Denver 3-2 eight days ago. Senior Cristobal Aguirre scored twice in it and has four goals on the year.
2A No. 2 Denver Christian (4-1), on the other hand, had its perfect start to the fall ended seven days ago in a 1-0 loss to 3A No. 20 Englewood. Sophomore Marcos Genc leads the Thunder with six goals.
Class 2A/3A
Bruce Randolph at KIPP Denver Collegiate; Thursday at 4 p.m.
2A No. 4 Bruce Randolph improved to 5-0 in a 5-3 win over Dr. Martin Luther King Early College last Thursday. Alejandro Rodriguez scored twice and has 11 goals this season.
In 2024, the Grizzlies ended a streak of four losing seasons with an 8-5-3 campaign.
3A No. 10 KIPP Denver Collegiate is also perfect at 3-0. The Tigers have beaten Bruce Randolph in each of their last five meetings. In last year’s 4-3 win, now-senior Jeffre Perez notched a hat trick.
