At this point of the prep football season there are teams that have been dominating and seemed poised to win state championships.
One of those teams is Class 5A powerhouse Cherry Creek (8-0). The Bruins have steamrolled all their opponents this season, including a 42-0 victory over Eaglecrest last week.
Creek has blanked four opponents this season and outscored the opposition 351-71.
The Bruins are paced offensively by senior quarterback Brady Vodicka (1,506 yards passing, and 24 TDs). Senior running back and UConn commit Jayden Fox also has added plenty of punch with 1,128 yards rushing and 15 TDs.
Cherry Creek will look to keep its victory train rolling down the track when it takes on Smoky Hill (2-6) at 7 p.m., Oct. 24. Senior RB Shaun Lanre-Ahmed (414 yards rushing and three TDs) is the Buffaloes’ top offensive threat.
It is hard to imagine Creek will have a hiccup this weekend as it chases another football state title, the 15th in school history.
