Playoff football has officially arrived in Colorado. With the regular seasons complete in Class 5A, 4A, 2A, 1A, 8-man and 6-man, CHSAA has released those postseason brackets.

There is still one week remaining in the 3A season and that playoff bracket will be released next week.

Class 5A

The top four seeds in the 5A bracket aren’t really much of a surprise. Defending state champion Cherry Creek takes the No. 1 spot followed by Columbine, Arapahoe and Pine Creek.

The top eight seeds received byes and rounding out that group is Ralston Valley, Regis Jesuit, Valor Christian and Mountain Vista.

Class 4A

After putting together an undefeated regular season, Palmer Ridge takes the top spot in the 4A bracket. Erie, Montrose and defending champion Broomfield round out the top seeds for each respective section of the bracket. That gives them an off week in this 24-team bracket.

Mesa Ridge, Ponderosa, Dakota Ridge and Heritage also received first-round byes to start their postseason runs.

Class 2A

For the first time in a long time, there is a different look at the top of the 2A bracket. Last year’s state runner-up, Delta, is the top overall season after going 9-0 in the regular season.

Defending champion Eaton will have its hands full as the No. 15 seed as it takes on No. 2 Kent Denver.

For this 16-team bracket, nobody gets a bye the playoffs. Rifle, Berthoud, Elizabeth, University, La Junta and Basalt all earned top-eight seeds and will play at home next week.

Class 1A

Defending champion Limon is the No. 1 overall seed in the 1A bracket. The Badgers went 9-0 in the regular season and will enter the playoffs as the favorite to win another state title.

Holyoke earned the No. 2 seed and was one play away from potentially beating Limon to go 9-0 in the regular season and taking that No. 1 spot from the Badgers.

Gunnison, Meeker, Buena Vista, Strasburg, Wray and Banning Lewis all have home games to open the state tournament.

8-man

An untimely loss may have cost Haxtun a shot to host a postseason game as the Bulldogs come in at No. 3 on the 8-man bracket. Mancos takes the No. 1 seed with Simla, last year’s runner-up, coming in at No. 2.

Defending state champion Dove Creek opens with a home game as the No. 5 seed.

Lyons, Byers, Merino and West Grand are the host teams for the first round of the 8-man playoffs.

6-man

There is no surprise that Stratton is the No. 1 team on the 6-man bracket. The Eagles have been dominant all year and want to extend that dominance for four more weeks as they search for another state title.

Otis, Granada, Idalia, Walsh, Cheyenne Wells and Branson/Kim are the home teams for the first round of the 6-man postseason.
