With official seeding data released by CHSAA today, Colorado Preps can start laying out projected state basketball brackets for Class 3A boys and girls.  The rankings will change a few more times over the last four days of the regular season with official pairings set for release on Monday.  First round games for Class 3A are next Tuesday with the championship games slated for March 20th in Pueblo.

Below are projected pairings based on the official data.  We also provide links to the official rankings posted by CHSAA.

  • #16 Gunnison vs #17 Kent Denver
  • #8 Faith Christian – BYE
  • #9 Resurrection Christian vs #24 Eaton
  • #4 Manitou Springs – BYE
  • #13 Coal Ridge vs #20 Salida
  • #5 Centauri – BYE
  • #12 Highland vs #21 Buena Vista

  • #3 Sterling – BYE
  • #14 Colorado Springs Christian vs #19 Brush
  • #6 Manual – BYE
  • #11 Aspen vs #22 Alamosa
  • #7 Englewood – BYE

NOTE:  DSST-Conservatory Green, DSST-Green Valley Ranch and DSST-College View are all tied for the Confluence league lead.  None of the three are currently in the top 30 of the 3A rankings but one will get a spot as automatic league champion.  If that scenario remains unchanged, the eventual champion will be in the bracket at #24 and bump (in this case) Eaton from the tournament field.

NOTE:  The Confluence and Colorado conferences may be shutout of the Class 3A playoffs as league champions could qualify in other divisions.  Lotus is the current favorite to win the Confluence but they drop into the Class 2A ranks for the postseason.  Weld Central also leads the Colorado and will compete in the 4A bracket again this year.  Conferences with teams from more than one division receive just one automatic bid to their overall league champion.
