A busy night in the girls’ basketball ranks and we sort through the results and tell you what they mean to conference races in the respective classifications.  We’ll continue to update as final scores are turned in.
 

CLASS 5A

Front Range:  #5 Fossil Ridge scored a very important 62-57 win over #7 Horizon so the Sabercats keep a share of first place.  The decision also helps Broomfield as they knocked off Fort Collins to stay a game back of the leaders.  Broomfield already lost to Horizon but has yet to face Fossil Ridge.  Legacy also stayed unbeaten in league play with their win over Loveland.  Mountain Range can make it a three-way tie for the top spot by beating Greeley West but results from that game are not available.
Continental:  Regis, ThunderRidge, Ponderosa and Chaparral all opened the night tied for the top spot but Regis dropped ThunderRidge from first place with a 45-34 decision over the Grizzlies.  Chaparral also lost ground as they were upset by Mountain Vista 56-47 but Ponderosa kept a share of the lead with their 51-27 win at Heritage.  Ponderosa plays Chaparral on Thursday in another key game.
 

CLASS 4A

Tri Valley:  It took overtime but 6th ranked Holy Family stayed perfect in league play with a 60-58 decision over 9th ranked Berthoud.  The Tigers remain tied with Windsor atop the standings as the Wizards moved past Erie.  Holy Family and Windsor tangle on Friday.
Northern:  Greeley Central and Thompson Valley entered the night as co-leaders and stay that with double digit wins over Niwot and Mountain View respectively.  Both clubs are now 4-0 will meet for the first time next Tuesday.  Both teams also have a league game on Friday before going head-to-head.
Western Slope:  Battle Mountain picked up a nice and important 41-38 win over Palisade.  The clubs entered the game unbeaten in conference play and tied with Glenwood Springs in first place.  Glenwood kept pace by beating Eagle Valley 48-21.
 

CLASS 3A

Metro:  Faith Christian scored the shocker of the night as they upset #8 Lutheran 44-42 on Tuesday.  Three other teams remain unbeaten in league play as Kent Denver, Skyview Academy and Colorado Academy all posted wins on Tuesday.  Skyview Academy and Kent Denver meet on Thursday so at least one more team will drop from the league unbeaten ranks then.
Tri Peaks:  Colorado Springs Christian easily won the battle of league unbeatens over Manitou Springs 75-42.  The win keeps the Lions in a first place tie with St Mary’s and Salida.  Salida and Manitou Springs battle on Friday.
Patriot:  Eaton and Liberty Common began the week at 2-0 and the only unbeaten teams left in the conference.  Liberty Common had the night off but Eaton moved to 3-0 with a nice 51-38 win at University.  Liberty Common next sees action against Estes Park on Thursday.  The Bobcats kept one game back with a 52-44 win over Frontier Academy.   Resurrection Christian beat Sterling and the Lions are also just one game off the pace.  It’s the same scenario with Brush as the Beetdiggers are now 2-1 after blowing past Valley.
 

CLASS 2A

Mile High:  Dawson moved past Clear Creek in convincing fashion (51-20) to stay perfect in conference play.  The Mustangs are now 4-0 and tied with Heritage Christian (4-0) and Highland (2-0).  Denver Christian stayed a game back with a win over Lyons as the Thunder are now alone in fourth.
