Resurrection Christian and Sanford are two new number one teams this week. Resurrection Christian took advantage of Eaton not playing in week one to move past the Reds into the top spot. A dominating 42-0 win over Sterling also helped the Cougars cause.
No surprise to see Sanford atop the eight man polls as they rolled Crowley County 52-18 and preseason number one Sedgwick County lost on opening weekend. The Cougars though only dropped to second as their loss came against an out of state opponent.
Four fresh faces are found in Class 4A this week but surprisingly Pine Creek is not one of them. The Eagles were unranked to start the year but we figured their tradition and a 27-0 shutout of then 8th ranked Pueblo West would get them in this week. But Erie, Fruita Monument, Chatfield and Golden all moved in ahead of the Eagles and those four clubs deserve top 10 billing after impressive week one wins; especially Golden as the Demons upset 4th ranked Broomfield and that cost the Eagles their spot in the poll.
Cherokee Trail joins the rankings and replaces Eaglecrest in Class 5A; Frederick steps into the 3A rankings with Thomas Jefferson dropping out following a double overtime loss to Eagle Valley last Saturday.
University is the lone newcomer in Class 2A as they step in to replace Sterling and Wiggins used their win over Highland to replace the Huskies at number 10 in 1A. Wiggins is one of five North Central teams in the top 11 of that class.
No newcomers were found in eight man but the top 10 shuffled quite a bit from week one. And Kim/Branson and Sierra Grande jump into the six man poll with Cheraw and Eads dropping out. Both the Wolverines and Eagles were beaten by top 10 opponents.
