Almost every league champion has been crowned but there are several highly competitive matches on the Friday volleyball schedule.  Leading the way is an intriguing pairing in Northeast Colorado between #1 Fleming (1A) and #2 Sterling (3A).  Both clubs are defending state champions and both are in the running again this year.

Elsewhere in Class 1A, #4 Stratton/Liberty looks to continue their unbeaten season at Cheyenne Wells.  They’re favored today but will get tested against #8 Briggsdale to close the campaign on Saturday.

In Class 2A, two huge games to impact league races as #3 Meeker goes to Soroco and #5 Fowler heads off Rye.  Meeker begins the night tied with Vail Christian atop the West Slope standings and those two meet on Saturday.  Soroco is in third and tied with Vail Mountain two games back but they can get a piece of second place by winning tonight and Vail Christian beating Meeker tomorrow.  Fowler and Rye are both unbeaten in the Santa Fe so the winner lands that title and automatic playoff berth.

Eaton and Mead both look to boost their seeding placement for next week as they collide today.  Both are easily in the regional field in their respective but the match will also boost their strength of schedule within RPI.

The Cheyenne Mountain Invitational tournament took a major hit in scheduling with COVID but there two good matches on tap today as both the Indian and Palmer Ridge welcome in 5A power Valor Christian.  All three clubs using the event to prep for the post-season.

#10 Durango has already clinched the Southwestern championship and Fruita Monument has wrapped up second.  They meet for the second time this year with the Demons seeking a season sweep.

Outside the rankings, a playoff berth on the line as Denver East hosts Thomas Jefferson.  The rivals are a combined 20-2 on the season and each is unbeaten in the City league so the winner lands the championship.
