The end has finally arrived – the conclusion of the regular season for girls volleyball.

The final games will wrap up this weekend ahead of regional tournament play the following weekend.
That sets up the state tournament Nov. 14-16 at Denver Coliseum.

For the most part, league championships have been decided. After regular season play concludes Saturday, regionals will be determined.

Here is a look at the final week of the regular season:

Class 5A

Even though it may not have won the Continental League crown, no team is going to want to match up with Legend head into regional tourney play. The No. 5 Titans (14-4, 9-1) closed out the regular season by defeating a pair of top-five teams in then-No. 5 Rock Canyon and fourth-ranked Mountain Vista on Tuesday night. Legend is currently second in RPI behind league champion Chaparral … The Granite Peaks League has three teams in the top 16 in RPI, with league champion Niwot (10th), Erie (11th) and an 18-win Broomfield team (16th). … Pine Creek picked a good time to get hot. The seventh-ranked Eagles (19-3, 10-1 Colo. Springs Metro) closed out the regular season with 13 consecutive victories, sharing the league crown with No. 8 Pueblo West. … No. 9 Denver South clinched the City League crown Tuesday night with a sweep of Denver East. The Ravens (18-1, 6-0) haven’t lost a match since Aug. 31.

Class 4A

Top-ranked Thompson Valley can run the table on the Longs Peak League with a victory over Mountain View on Wednesday. The Eagles (17-0, 14-0) swept past No. 9 Timnath on Tuesday night. … Fourth-ranked Montrose (14-5, 8-2 in Southwestern) took down another top-10 team in University on Friday night in four sets before falling to 3A’s current No. 4 Village on Saturday. Maggie Legg had 15 kills and 13 digs in the victory over University … Lewis-Palmer avenged its only in Pikes Peak play by rolling past Cheyenne Mountain in four sets last Thursday to wrap up the league crown. Brooke Gennerman tallied 26 kills and 10 digs for the No. 2 Rangers (15-4, 9-1). … No. 7 Battle Mountain (18-0, 12-0 Western Slope) still has a chance at unbeaten season, though the Huskies are in a tournament this weekend that includes No. 3 Palisade.

Class 3A

One unknown for a number of 3A squads headed into the postseason is how No. 4 Village will fare. The Mountaineers (20-3) look to be a tough out, especially after going to the Western Slope last weekend and taking victories over a pair of 4A top-5 teams in Palisade and Montrose. Lilian Edwards has 26 kills in the victory over the No. 3 Bulldogs. … Eaton got back on track after its first loss, clinching second in the Patriot League with a four-set victory over Resurrection Christian last Thursday. The No. 2 Reds were paced by 16 kills from Chloe Crider. … No. 7 Lamar wrapped up the Tri-Peaks crown. The Thunder are 20-2 overall going into their finale Thursday.

Class 2A

Sedgwick County is gearing up for a state run by going up against some of 2A’s best down the stretch. The No. 2 Cougars defeated No. 10 Heritage Christian in four sets on Tuesday night ahead of a showdown with top-ranked Simla on Saturday. … No. 3 Lyons has won 10 in a row going into the final weekend of play. The Lions (17-2, 11-1 Mile High) finished second in league play to 1A Flatirons Academy. … No. 6 Swink avenged a loss to Fowler earlier in the year with a four-set victory Tuesday night. The Lions (19-4, 7-1 Santa Fe) hold the league tiebreaker over No. 8 Rye. …

Class 1A

Merino is a heavy favorite going into the postseason, though the Rams still have a league game remaining. The top-ranked Rams (19-1, 7-0 Lower Platte) defeated a top-five team in Stratton last Saturday and was scheduled to take on No. 2 Fleming on Tuesday night. … Fleming had defeated then-No. 2 Idalia in three sets last Thursday before falling to 2A’s top-ranked Simla. The Wildcats then downed No. 8 Cheraw.
