With only a handful of days remaining in the girls volleyball regular season, only one thing is for certain: There won’t be any perfect seasons in 2025.

The final three unbeaten teams in the state saw its unblemished records go by the wayside over the past week. In Class 4A, Montrose and Battle Mountain both fell from the ranks of the undefeated, as did 3A Resurrection Christian.

The big action this weekend will take place at Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs with the 32-team Colorado Invitational. A number of the state’s top teams, regardless of classification, will compete in the tournament.

That said, the postseason is looming. Following the conclusion of the regular season Saturday, regional seeding will be released Monday, with tournaments to follow next weekend. The state tournament will take place Nov. 13-15 at the Denver Coliseum.

Here is a glance at some of this week’s top games in each classification:

Class 5A

Fossil Ridge at Loveland, 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30
The second time through the 5A/4A Northern hasn’t been a problem for top-ranked Fossil Ridge (16-2, 11-0). The SaberCats swept Loveland back on Sept. 11, and the team hasn’t given up a set in league play all season. Five players have more than 100 kills on the season, and four have topped 100 digs, led by senior Trinity Burchett’s 205. … Loveland (18-4, 9-2) split its league set with Windsor to remain second in the league standings. The Red Wolves made the state tournament a year ago.

Class 5A/4A

Mullen vs. Ralston Valley, 8 a.m., Friday, Oct. 31
There are so many good inter-classification games at the Colorado Invite, but the all-Mustangs battle between 4A’s No. 5 Mullen and 5A’s No. 7 Ralston Valley is a fun one to highlight. Mullen (16-3) was just 12-13 a year ago, but the team won the 5A/4A Centennial League this season after a 3-2 victory over Eaglecrest on Tuesday night. Junior Shelby Elms leads the team in kills and is second in digs. … Ralston Valley (16-3) finished second in the Jeffco League to Valor Christian but did take a set from the Eagles. Senior Rylee Sonnenfeld had 19 kills and 10 digs in that loss.

Class 3A

Stargate School at Prospect Ridge, 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30
The gauntlet that is the 3A/2A Metro League comes to a close this weekend, with No. 6 Stargate School looking to keep pace with Forge Christian in the league standings and avenge one of its two losses. The Eagles (20-2, 8-1) were swept by PRA in a non-league tilt on Sept. 16. Since then, Stargate’s only loss came to Forge Christian. Senior Morgan Stitzer averages nearly five digs a set and sophomore Reese White is at eight assists a set. … The Miners (17-5, 6-3 after a loss to Forge Christian on Tuesday) received a big boost in the first meeting with the Eagles thanks to seven blocks from Molly McLemore and 25 assists from DeLaney Ash.

Class 2A

Sedgwick County at Simla, 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1
In what could potentially be a preview of a match at the Denver Coliseum, reigning 2A state champion Sedgwick County and No. 1 Simla close out the regular season with one final test before regionals. Sedgwick County (16-5) had won six of seven games in October, with the only loss coming to 1A’s No. 1 Merino. Senior Lainee Nein has topped 300 kills and 250 digs on the season. … Simla (20-2) hadn’t lost to a 2A team all season and has dropped only set a loss Sept. 6. Junior Carlee Cox leads the Cubs in kills, and a pair of freshmen (Trenna Kocerha and Kinlee Cox) have handled setting duties evenly.

Class 2A/1A

Flatirons Academy at Heritage Christian, 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30
The 2A/1A Mile High League closes out with this contest. The No. 4 Bison (21-1, 10-1) will finish second to 2A’s No. 3 Lyons, but Flatirons swept the Lions in non-league play Oct. 16 behind 11 kills from Brylin Gomer and 26 assists from Lexi Richman. … Heritage Christian (16-6, 8-3) was seeded 18th in 2A going into Tuesday night. The Eagles’ only October loss going into Tuesday was a setback to Lyons. Senior Kristin Osborne leads the team at more than seven assists a set.
