In the world of science fiction, a stargate is defined as a wormhole: A portal meant to travel to far-away places in the universe.

The Stargate School in Thornton, on the other hand, is just a building. You could argue the boys soccer team there could be entering another dimension of its own on the back of its 4-0 start, but it’s early, and soccer abides by the law of physics.

On Thursday, Stargate’s Ethan Clem was the first player in Colorado to reach double-digit goals this fall, scoring his 10th goal of the year as the Eagles beat Valley 10-0.

The junior forward has now notched a hat trick in three straight games, helping move the Eagles up to seventh in the Class 3A Selection and Seeding Index.

Stargate’s start to the year comes after the program broke new ground last season. It finished with a winning record (8-6-3) for the first time in team history, eventually reaching the second round of the postseason before falling to state champ Holy Family.

On Thursday, the Eagles will look to match their 2024, 5-0 start with a win over Windsor Charter Academy (1-1).

Six days later, they’ll face No. 3 Aurora West College Prep Academy. Then play begins in the 3A’s most-powerful league — the 3A/2A Metro League. The Eagles’ 2-5-2 record in it last season was also their best.

Below let’s take a look at a game from each classification you should watch over the next week, highlighting the stat leader who is paving the way.

Class 5A

Boulder at Cherry Creek; Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Behind Clem on the state’s goals leaderboard is Cherry Creek’s Cooper Arledge with nine.

The senior has scored in every game for the Bruins this season, including two hat tricks in his last three games.

The 5A defending champs are currently ranked fifth in the classification.

Boulder (1-1), meanwhile, is looking to bounce back from a 4-nil loss to No. 4 Ralston Valley.

The Panthers beat Cherry Creek 2-0 last season, the Bruins’ only loss of the year (18-1-1).

Class 4A

Fairview at Silver Creek; Thursday at 6 p.m.

The 4A No. 5 Raptors (4-0) have outscored teams, 15-0, this season. Rien Pacaro has five goals for last year’s semifinalist.

They’ll face their third 5A opponent of the season in the Knights, who they’ve had success against the last three seasons, going 1-0-2.

Class 3A

Holy Family at Jefferson Academy; Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Holy Family junior Michi Curto had a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over Middle Park last week. He has three goals and five assists in four games for the Tigers (4-0).

Thursday’s rematch of the 2024 3A championship games features another undefeated team in the Jaguars (2-0).

Class 2A

SkyView Academy at Forge Christian; Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

SkyView’s Evan Eskestrand has five goals for the third-ranked Hawks (3-1), who will face the defending champs on the road.

The Hawks are 0-7-1 against the Fury since 2014.

On Thursday, Forge Christian (1-1-1) lost for the first time since October, falling to 5A No. 8 Vista PEAK Prep (3-0).
