Northfield put an end to the career of Colorado’s all-time leading scorer on Friday in the Great Eight.
Now, it can pull the rug out on the season for Class 6A’s top-ranked team.
The Nighthawks survived a late run by Riverdale Ridge and its superstar, Brihanna Crittendon, in a 66-59 win in the 6A quarterfinals.
Crittendon had 41 points in the loss. She ended her career with the most points ever scored by a girls high school basketball player in Colorado history at 3,073.
Madison Bethel led the Nighthawks with 21 points in the win. London Taylor added 16.
Northfield faces No. 1 Cherokee Trail on Thursday.
Let’s dive into the 6A and 5A Final Four matchups and see how things are shaping up in the 4A bracket.
Class 6A (Thursday)
- No. 1 Cherokee Trail vs. No. 5 Northfield, 5:45 p.m.
- No. 6 Denver East vs. No. 7 Highlands Ranch, 7:15 p.m.
What to know: It’s an entirely new Final Four compared to last season in 6A. Denver East and Highlands Ranch were knocked out in the Great Eight in 2025, while Cherokee Trail lost in the Sweet 16 and Northfield fell in the Round of 32.
Denver East is in its first Final Four since 2017 after beating No. 3 Valor Christian in the Great Eight. Cherokee Trail advanced behind 29 points from Aaliyah Broadus in its win over Legend, while Highlands Ranch got 24 points from junior Addie Moon in a win over Arapahoe.
Cherokee Trail may be ranked No. 1, but Denver East has an arguement for the most impressive résumé remaining. The Angels are 3-0 against the Final Four field. They’ve beaten Northfield twice this season and Highlands Ranch once.
Class 5A (Thursday)
- No. 2 Green Mountain vs. No. 3 Montrose, 11 a.m.
- No. 1 Lutheran vs. No. 5 Standley Lake, 2:15 p.m.
What to know: No. 1 Lutheran has been as good as advertised through the opening rounds of the postseason, which included a 20-point win over No. 9 Pueblo East in the Great Eight. It has been led in part by Berkley Schneider, who is averaging more than 18 points per game in these playoffs.
It faces Standley Lake, which got a game-winning shot from freshman standout Jojo Martin in its 68-66 win over No. 4 Windsor in the Great Eight. Martin finished with 33 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Green Mountain and Montrose are a combined 51-1 this season. The Red Hawks are unbeaten, while the second-ranked Rams’ only loss came to 6A No. 1 Cherokee Trail in December.
Class 4A (Wednesday)
- No. 2 Timnath vs. No. 7 Colorado Academy, 8:45 a.m.
- No. 4 Holy Family vs. No. 5 Sterling, 11:45 a.m.
- No. 3 Kent Denver vs. No. 6 D’Evelyn, 4 p.m.
- No. 1 University vs. No. 8 Alamosa, 7 p.m.
What to know: University is looking for its second win over the Mean Moose this season after beating them by 20 in December.
No. 2 Timnath has to like its chances, already with wins this season over Kent Denver and Holy Family.
Kent Denver lost its opening two games of the season to Timnath and Holy Family and started 1-4 before winning 17 of its last 20 games.
Holy Family is battle-tested as the only 4A team in the 6A/5A/4A Granite Peaks League.
Karsyn Tonche hit two free throws in the waning moments of Sterling’s 37-35 Sweet 16 win over No. 12 Pagosa Springs.
Bobbi Jo Marvel hit all three of her 3-pointers and finished with 16 points in D’Evelyn’s 51-46 win over No. 11 The Classical Academy.
