Even though flag football is still a sport in its infancy in Colorado, certain achievements are proving to be difficult.
But not too difficult for Poudre School District’s Michelle Lora Pardo.
The Stars’ junior had a monumental day against Horizon on Sept. 14 as she picked off five passes in the game. She becomes just the third player in Colorado high school flag football history to score five interceptions in a game.
The two other five-pick games came last season. Manual’s Caylei Walker was the first to reach the accomplishment as she hauled in five interceptions as the Thunderbolts beat Bruce Randolph 46-0 on Sept. 11.
Three weeks later, Littleton’s Ava Martin matched the single-game mark as she picked off five passes to help lead the Lions to a 55-0 win over Kennedy.
Lora Pardo’s five interceptions came in a 45-6 win over Horizon. She returned two of those interceptions for touchdowns. Going back through the MaxPreps records, there are no other five-interception performances beyond these three.
She had zero interceptions on the season coming into the game, but is now tied at 31st in the state – regardless of classification – after her record-tying performance.
