With new RPI standings based on Monday and the release of the Colorado Preps consensus rankings, we again take a look at possible regional tournament pairings in volleyball. Per the playoff system, league champions get a guaranteed place in the bracket with the remaining spots determined by RPI. The consensus rankings only come into play after qualifiers are selected and then the committee has the option of using them to seed teams in the bracket.

24 teams qualify for the regional round in Class 1A and all eight tournament winners advance to the state bracket. Once regionals are completed, then four wildcards will be selected to fill out the 12 team state event. In Classes 2A through 5A, there are 12 regional tournaments with the winners advancing to the state tournament. No wildcards are selected in those classifications.
We lay out the brackets in directing seeding below and in our notes, we don’t worry too much about travel as in the past, it has not seemed to be a factor for the committee in putting teams into regionals. But let’s mention potential conference conflicts.
In Class 1A, the bracket is nice as there is not a single conference conflict among the eight regionals.
In Class 2A, Holyoke and Yuma are together in Region 6. Union Colony Prep and Lyons are together in Region 11 and Ignacio and Dolores are grouped together in Region 12.
For Class 3A, the lone conflict is found in Region 12 between Alamosa and Centauri. One of them would be moved down to avoid putting those two togethers.
Class 4A lays out well as there is not a conference conflict among the 12 regions.
In Class 5A, Continental members Mountain Vista and Heritage are both in Region 5 so the Eagles would likely be moved up or down one position. Cherokee Trail and Arapahoe are both in Region 8 so Arapahoe could be moved one slot. But otherwise, the regions are evenly distributed among the various leagues.
