5A BOYS:  Chaparral – Nate Rohnert

The Wolverines continued a recent hot stretch of wins by downing Douglas County 70-61 in the Continental league opener for both teams.

 

2A GIRLS:  Del Norte – Gibbs Sanchez

The Tigers picked up a second straight high quality win on Thursday as they downed Ignacio in non-conference play.  The victory followed up a solid four point win over Sangre De Cristo the week before.

 

3A GIRLS:  Eaton – Todd Hernandez

Thursday marked an early but very important Patriot league win as the Reds knocked off Platte Valley.  The teams were ranked 7th and 9th respectively in Class 3A before the game and the win moved Eaton to 2-0 in league action.

 

4A BOYS:  Glenwood Springs – Fred Heisel

A road win over a local rival for the Demons on Friday as they edged Rifle.  The win kept the Demons unbeaten (2-0) in the 4A Western Slope.

 

5A GIRLS:  Valor Christian – Jessika Caldwell

Competing in the Rampart Winter Classic, the Eagles scored their second win in as many days as they took out 4A #2 Pueblo West 50-35.

 

2A GIRLS:  Wray – David Reed

The matchup with Yuma is always a big one across the 2A ranks and Wray’s 44-37 win on Friday was their third over the Indians already this season.

 

2A BOYS:  Yuma – Dave Sheffield

The two-time defending state champions collected a nice league win over Wray on Friday night.  It was their second win over their local opponent on the season.

 

1A BOYS:  Kim/Branson – Ben Doherty

Using a deep lineup and pressure defense, the Mustangs earned an important district win over Springfield.

 

3A GIRLS:  Delta – Kyle Crowder

Still battling injuries, the Panther went on the road to Carbondale and beat a solid Roaring Fork club.

 

1A GIRLS:  Elbert – BJ Wangerow

A good win for the Indians inside the Black Forest conference as they moved a step closer to defending their league crown from a year ago.
