There’s a week left in softball’s regular season and a lot still has to be decided.

League champs, for one. In the case of the Granite Peaks and both Jeffco leagues, the winner may not even be decided until the season’s final day.

5A No. 1 Broomfield (9-0, 15-2) and 4A No. 2 Holy Family (16-3, 8-1) appear to be on a crash course in the GPL. The Eagles have still yet to lose in Colorado during the regular season since 2023, and that included an 8-3 win over the Tigers on Sept. 4.

In the teams’ first of two meetings, Broomfield got to Stanford pitcher commit Emmaline Humphreys (1.02 ERA in 82 1/3 innings). In their second, Humphreys will likely take the ball once again opposite Iowa pitcher commit Ireland Heer (1.34 in 62 2/3 IP).

If both teams continue their current winning streaks (they’re both at eight) into the regular-season finale on Oct. 11, the Tigers can tie the Eagles in the standings with a win.

A Holy Family victory could also likely move the Tigers up to 4A’s No. 1 seed ahead of regionals while possibly dropping Broomfield from its No. 1 spot in 5A.

A similar scenario is taking shape in the 5A Jeffco League, where No. 2 Columbine (14-5, 7-1) could be playing for its title in a regular-season finale matchup against No. 9 Lakewood (14-5, 6-2).

The Tigers walloped the Rebels in their first of two meetings last week, 15-8. Which means if the both teams don’t drop another league game before their meetup on Oct. 10, the winner will take home the league crown.

In Jeffco’s 4A league, meanwhile, D’Evelyn (16-3, 9-0) is a game and a half up on Golden (14-5, 7-1). The Jags beat the Demons 3-2 in their first game last week. But the their final game on Oct. 10 is at Golden, where the Demons are 9-0 this season.

Let’s take a look at three more league races still in flux.

5A Colorado Springs Metro League

Pueblo West (13-6, 8-1), Vista Ridge (13-4, 8-1) and Pine Creek (16-3, 8-2) are all very much in contention for the league title.

The Cyclones split with Pine Creek, but still have both games against Vista Ridge left on the docket. The Wolves, meanwhile, beat the Eagles in their first meeting and will face them again on Oct. 8.

Acelyn Duran leads PW with 26 RBIs and five home runs. Kyleigh Croyle has driven in a league-most 29 runs for Pine Creek, while Jaylani Jusino and Jocelynn Kalkman each have 24 RBIs for the Wolves.

5A/4A Southwestern League

Palisade (13-7, 4-4) delivered Grand Junction (15-4, 5-1) a big favor, splitting Wednesday’s doubleheader against Fruita Monument to even up the league race.

The GJ Tigers have won eight straight since their 1-0 loss to the Wildcats on Sept. 11. The two will meet again Tuesday.

If GJ comes out on top, it’ll need to thank Palisade. After falling 3-1 to Fruita Monument in the first of two games Wednesday, the Bulldogs rallied ahead with a six-run sixth inning in a 7-6 Game win. MacKenzie Gray drove in three runs.

4A/3A Longs Peak League

Class 4A No. 13 Severance (14-4-1, 11-1), No. 18 Berthoud (12-8, 11-2), No. 22 Roosevelt (12-6, 10-3) and 3A No. 4 Wellington (15-3, 8-3) are each mathematically alive for the league crown heading into the final week.

It’s the Silver Knights who control their own fate. Led by sophomore ace Katie Thomas (2.11 ERA in 66 1/3 innings), they close things out at home with Berthoud, Greeley Central (2-16, 0-12) and Wellington.
