Eaton and Lutheran have combined to win nine state championships since 2011 and they collide tonight to give us a possible preview of the 3A state championship game. Both teams are unbeaten going in with the Reds atop the 3A rankings and Lutheran behind them in the second. The match begins a brutal closing stretch for Lutheran as they also face Sterling, University and Faith Christian before the end of the regular season.
Fort Morgan also has a tough night in store as the Mustangs have two matches at home against top 10 opponents. They face 5th ranked Niwot in a game that could help determine a top two finish in the Longs Peak and then they host 8th ranked Mead in a non-conference pairing.
In Class 5A, Rampart and Pine Creek are two of four teams that share second place in the 4A/5A Pikes Peak. The Rams and Eagles along with Liberty and Palmer Ridge trail first place Cheyenne Mountain by one game in the loss column.
Outside the rankings, Loveland and Horizon are two of six teams with one loss inside the Front Range league. All six are chasing Fossil Ridge who sits alone in first at 3-0.
