Fans can tell the volleyball regular season is starting to wind down as the games seem to be more important than earlier in the season. In fact, there’s almost too many important matches to mention in our Top 10 volleyball schedule.
In Class 1A, #8 Otis can clinch the YWKC crown with a win at Bethune and #10 Dove Creek battles Telluride for second place in the San Juan conference. In Class 2A, #1 Denver Christian must not look past Dawson to Thursday’s showdown with #2 Union Colony Prep. Top ten’s #6 Fowler and #10 Simla also battle in a very attractive non-league game.
In Class 3A, #1 Lutheran can move to one win away from clinching another Metro by beating Skyview Academy who is tied with Faith Christian in second. #2 Eaton and #5 Sterling look to stay perfect in the Patriot and the Reds look to avenge last year’s loss to #9 Platte Valley which cost them the league championship. #3 Colorado Springs Christian and #8 Lamar are both 11-0 in the Tri Peaks with the winner grabbing the league title.
In Class 4A, #2 Lewis Palmer makes the very short drive north to meet #6 Palmer Ridge. The Rangers are unbeaten in the Pikes Peak with the Bears sitting one game back and tied with Cheyenne Mountain in second. Lewis Palmer also meets Cheyenne Mountain on Thursday. #10 Erie can wrap up second behind Windsor in the Tri Valley by winning at Holy Family. A loss opens the door for #8 Mead to get second with a win at Frederick.
In Class 5A, #2 Legend is second in the Continental and one game up on third place Mountain Vista. #1 Chaparral stands alone atop the standings and tries to stay there at home against Highlands Ranch. The winner between #9 Chatfield and Ralston Valley could easily end up second to #6 Valor Christian in the Jeffco.
