League races start to heat up across the volleyball ranks tonight as several top 10 matchups could help determine conference champions.
We start with the clash between #2 Discovery Canyon and #7 Palmer Ridge in the rugged 4A Pikes Peak conference.  They’re two of three ranked teams from the conference and the winner steps up as the top challenger to #1 Lewis Palmer.
In Class 3A, the battle between #6 Manitou Springs and #7 Colorado Springs Christian should decide the Tri Peaks title.  Both are unbeaten in league play and each has at least a two-game edge on all conference teams.  In the Patriot, #2 University meets #10 Valley in a key game as the winner hopes to unseat five-time state champion Eaton for that conference crown.
In Class 2A, #5 Wiggins plays #9 Merino (1A) for the first time since they battled through a tremendous five-set district match last November.  Both teams also lost to 1A #2 Otis in their last match.  The Tigers came up short (3-2) at the Akron tournament for their first loss of the season.
Top teams from the 5A Centennial also continue to battle tonight.  #3 Cherokee Trail meets #6 Eaglecrest.  Both teams opened the week unbeaten but the Raptors lost a wild five-setter to #7 Cherry Creek on Tuesday.  Another loss drops them two games off the pace.
