Saturday’s Top 10 volleyball slate brings fans a very good schedule across the board but the main attraction sits in the small school ranks where a pair of number ones get together at the Pit in Yuma.  The Indians, ranked #1 in Class 2A, entertains Kit Carson, the top rated and defending state champion in Class 1A.
Both schools have tremendous tradition as Yuma has played in the last four state volleyball championship matches and many of the same ladies have pushed the Indians into five of the past six state basketball finals as well.  Kit Carson pulled off the double-double last year by winning both the volleyball and basketball titles and the Wildcats are favored to win both again this year.
On the undercard is a second cross-classification match between #3 Eaton from 3A and #7 Palmer Ridge from 4A.  The Reds have four losses on the resume but those are against Denver East and Mountain Vista from 5A along with tradition rich Cheyenne Mountain and top ranked Lewis Palmer from Class 4A.  They remain unbeaten against 3A rivals; a division where they’ve captured the last five state titles.  Palmer is 7-4 on the season and trying to snap a recent two-game slide with losses to Liberty (3-2) and Discovery Canyon (3-0).
Valor Chrsitian and Denver East collide in a top 10 5A matchup while 3A ranked Alamosa and Colorado Springs Christian are involved in tournament play today.
