Two defending state champions make their 2018 volleyball debut tonight as both Kit Carson and Lyons step on the court.  Coming off the 1A title and a perfect season where they didn’t drop a set, Kit Carson heads to Burlington for their opener while Lyons, the 2A champion is home to Frontier Academy.  The Lions were 25-5 last season but open the campaign under new coach Heather Evans.
Elsewhere, there’s an important clash inside the 2A Santa Fe tonight as Swink visits league newcomer Holly.  The host Wildcats are up in Class 2A this year after reaching the 1A state tournament in 2017.  Swink has already played twice this season picking up wins over Hoehne (3-1) and John Mall (3-0).
In the bigger school ranks, #3 Palmer Ridge opens a new season after reaching the state tournament for the first time in school history.  They visit local rival Classical Academy and also in 4A, #6 D’Evelyn could have their hands full with tradition rich Chatfield.
Wednesday saw two very good matches in 5A as #2 Chaparral knocked off #3 Cherokee Trail 3-1 and #4 Cherry Creek lost at home to Ponderosa 3-1
