With the regular season quickly ending this week in the largest three classifications, Tuesday was a very important night on the volleyball courts to help determine a few conference championships.  Here’s a quick recap.

CLASS 5A

Chaparral, Castle View and Mountain Vista all won on Tuesday so league members took the easy route in determining a league champion.  With results from Tuesday, Castle View and Chaparral sit tied for the top spot with one loss apiece and they happen to meet on Wednesday night.  That winner will be crowned champion and could be in line for the top overall playoff seed.  Mountain Vista also moved into third place based on a tiebreaker over Highlands Ranch.  The Golden Eagles stay there by beating Legend on Thursday.
Fort Collins and Rocky Mountain both picked up victories on Tuesday so as expected, they end up tied with Fossil Ridge atop the Front Range standings.  All three teams finished at 12-1.
Rangeview also swept Westminster to officially wrap up the East Metro championship.  The Raiders started the week with a one game lead on Brighton but needed a win either last night or on Thursday to win the title outright.

CLASS 4A

Elizabeth continued their drive to the Colorado Springs Metro championship by outlasting Canon City in five sets.  Both teams were tied with Classical Academy in first place entering the week.  TCA also beat Mesa Ridge so the Titans and Cardinals both keep a share of the conference lead with one match remaining.  Elizabeth though has the tiebreaker since they beat the Titans earlier in the conference schedule.  The Cards are the champs by winning at Sierra on Thursday.  If they stumble, TCA gets the crown with a victory over Harrison.
Holy Family swept Mead on Tuesday night allowing the Tigers to go through the Tri Valley conference schedule without a loss.  They finished 14-0 and two games ahead of second-place Windsor.

CLASS 3A

Going into Tuesday, the Metro was the only league not to crown a champion but Lutheran grabbed the top spot with an impressive three-game sweep of Faith Christian.  Both teams were 7-1 in league play before the match.  Faith Christian ends up second based on a tiebreaker with Colorado Academy as both finished 7-2.  Prospect Ridge also climbed into the fourth spot with their win over Skyview Academy.  The Miners and Machebeuf both ended league play at 6-3 but Prospect has the head-to-head victory.
Resurrection Christian also ended a three-match slide and clinched fourth in the rugged Patriot with their win over Strasburg.
