It’s an important night of volleyball across Colorado as several league championships are on the line.  Colorado Preps will update league races and what results mean to the standings and playoff picture throughout the night.  Below is a quick list of top matches on tap and each one listed has a direct bearing on conference titles.
Please check back throughout the night as we update this story as each result comes in.

CLASS 1A

  • Fleming continues to play well down the stretch.  After sweeping Briggsdale last week they do the same to a Haxtun club tonight that handed Otis their first loss earlier this month.
  • DeBeque came up short against Meeker (3-0) and will end up third in the 2A/1A Western Slope chase.  They’re the highest finisher among 1A clubs trailing only Meeker and Vail Mountain.
  • Good non-league wins today by McClave and Cheyenne Wells that will boost RPI for both clubs.  The Cardinals down Springfield and the Tigers edged Stratton/Liberty with both matches going the full five games.
  • Wiley officially clinched the Ark Valley championship with a three-game sweep of South Baca.

CLASS 2A

  • Yuma finishes off another perfect run through the Lower Platte with a 3-0 sweep of Wray.  The Indians have now won 41 consecutive league matches.  They finish the season at a tournament in Alliance NE on Saturday.
  • Wiggins gets a nice non-conference win over Union Colony Prep (3-1) that will boost their RPI.  Both teams were ranked in the top 10 going in.
  • Denver Christian tops Dawson in four sets to maintain sole possession of the Mile High league.  They can clinch the title outright by beating Union Colony Prep on Thursday.
  • Meeker clinches the Western Slope championship by downing 1A DeBeque 3-0.  The Cowboys are one of three unbeaten teams left in the state (Alamosa & Valor Christian) and finish the conference slate against Soroco on Saturday.
  • Hoehne picked up a high quality win over Swink (3-2) that will boost the Farmers RPI heading into the post-season.  For the Lions it was just their third loss of the season overall.
  • Dolores stays alone in second place in the San Juan with a 3-0 win over Ignacio.  The Bears trail 1A Dove Creek by one game and are the top 2A team in the mixed conference.

CLASS 3A

  • Colorado Springs Christian is the Tri Peaks champion after downing Lamar in four sets.  Despite the loss, the Savages stay put at number three in the conference behind the Lions and second place Manitou Springs.  The Mustangs downed Vanguard 3-0.
  • Coal Ridge continues their perfect run through the WSL with a four-set win over Delta.  The Titans gained sole possession of the lead with their win over Cedaredge back on Saturday.
  • Platte Valley ends the league dominance of Eaton inside the Patriot as they knock off the Reds 3-1.  The win ended the Reds 71-match winning streak in the conference and gave the Broncos the outright lead atop the standings.  Valley also knocked off Sterling so Eaton sits alone in second place with Sterling and University tied for third.  University swept Resurrection Christian on Tuesday and has the tiebreaker on Sterling due to their win over the Tigers last week (3-0).
  • The list of leaders in the Metro is now down to two teams as Machebeuf upset Prospect Ridge 3-2 on Tuesday.  That leaves Faith Christian and Lutheran tied for the top spot.  Faith Christian knocked off Jefferson Academy 3-1 and they own the tiebreaker over Lutheran since they handed the Lions their only loss last week.  Lutheran swept Skyview Academy 3-0 and that decision also leaves Machebeuf alone in fourth.

CLASS 4A

  • Lewis Palmer moves past Palmer Ridge in three sets to keep sole possession of the Pikes Peak league.  Palmer Ridge slides into a third place tie with Air Academy.  The Kadets swept Sand Creek.  Discovery Canyon is now alone in second following a 3-0 victory over Falcon.
  • Pueblo County and Pueblo West both picked up three games sweeps of Pueblo Centennial and Pueblo Central tonight and they remain 1-2 in the South Central.  Their rematch is set for Thursday and the outcome will determine if County wins the title outright or if the two share the conference crown.
  • Windsor moves past Roosevelt in three sets to finish the Tri Valley schedule a perfect 8-0.  They had clinched the title before the win and will be the number one seed in the league tournament which opens on Thursday.  Holy Family keeps their hold on second with a 3-1 win over Erie and will be the second seed in the conference bracket.  Mead locked up third place with their win over Frederick (3-1).
  • Longmont downs Centaurus in three sets to maintain their one game lead on Niwot in the Northern conference.  The Trojans are unbeaten in league play and can clinch the title by beating Niwot a second time on Thursday.  The Cougars stayed one game off the pace with a 3-0 win over Thompson Valley.
  • Englewood continues to share the Colorado 7 lead with Weld Central as the Pirates downed Alameda 3-0.  Englewood drops to 3A for the post-season where they would host a regional tournament if the brackets were released this week.
  • Evergreen moved to 10-0 in the Jeffco by beating Standley Lake 3-0 on Tuesday.  The Cougars also keep their two game edge on D’Evelyn and clinch the title by beating Littleton next Tuesday.  Littleton scores an upset in the conference by beating Golden 3-1.  The Lions were 53rd in RPI and Golden 26th going into the match.

CLASS 5A

  • Fruita Monument swept Grand Junction 3-0 and is now just one win away from rolling through SWL schedule without a loss.  They play Durango on Friday and have already wrapped up the league title
  • Pine Creek, Rampart, Doherty and Coronado continue to share the lead in the crowded CS Metro.  Rampart scored the biggest win as they downed Liberty 3-1 as the Lancers were also in first place before the loss.  Pine Creek topped Palmer in three, Doherty downed Fountain Fort Carson in three and Coronado picked up a non-league win over Douglas County on Tuesday.
  • Fort Collins keeps at least a share of second place in the Front Range with a 3-0 win over Legacy.  The Lambkins are 10-1 in league play with Loveland at 8-1 pending an outcome with Fairview on Tuesday.  Rocky Mountain stays fourth with their sweep of Monarch.
  • Chaparral stays in the top of the Continental with a three game sweep of Highlands Ranch.  They opened the night tied with Rock Canyon in first.  The Jags also scored a win on Tuesday beating ThunderRidge in three.  The Wolverines and Jaguars are now three games up on the rest of the conference.
  • Denver East gained the City league title with an extensive 3-2 win over 4A Thomas Jefferson.
  • Valor Christian stayed perfect in the Jeffco and alone atop the standings with their 3-0 win over Bear Creek.  The Eagles remain unbeaten for the season.  Chatfield scored an important 3-1 win over Ralston Valley that moves the Chargers into sole possession of second place.  Ralston and Valor Christian collide on Thursday.
